The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), formerly known as the Singapore Manufacturers’ Association, was first established in 1932. Its main aim is to champion the Singapore manufacturing sector. With a membership of over 3,000 corporate members ranging from MNCs to SMEs, SMF carries out a myriad of activities to enhance the competitive edge of our members.
As a Not-For-Profit organisation, SMF is governed by a Council whose members hail from some of Singapore’s most established and progressive companies. Through its strong links with the government. SMF is able to represent its members facilitating communication between the government, foreign delegates and the manufacturing community through various events as follows:

- Forums, Conferences, Seminars and Workshops
- Dialogues with Government Agencies

In addition, to supplement the activities and events staged to enhance members’ knowledge and expertise, SMF also operates seven Centres of Excellence to impart specific skills and competencies to members. These centres are:
GS1 Singapore Council
The GS1 Singapore Council’s role encompasses the provision of article numbering and technical assistance. It also conducts educational and publicity activities on the application of EAN. UCC Bar Code Systems to the industry. Its role has been expanded to include the promotion and use of Radio Frequency Identification tags (RFID) and the operation of the Singapore Cold Chain Centre.
SME Centre @ SMF
SME Centre @ SMF was established in 2005 to help local SMEs set up their businesses, troubleshoot problems and upgrade their capabilities. The SME Centre @ SMF boasts a fully-equipped resource centre with in-house consultants to assist budding entrepreneurs set up their businesses, provide advice on securing incentives and assistance from various government agencies. SME Centre @ SMF’s consultants also provide Focus Consulting to help SMEs on specific projects to streamline their operations, develop their business or conduct specific research to enhance their competitiveness.
SMF Centre for Corporate Learning
The SMF Centre for Corporate Learning (CCL) trains more than 10,000 people annually through its comprehensive range of programmes and seminars. Formerly known as the SMF Training Institute, SMF CCL has been conducting corporate training since 1966. It delivers value to organisations through the introduction of practical skills and contemporary business knowledge to empower the workforce at all levels.
SMF Institute of Higher Learning (SMF Institute)(formerly known as SMa School of Management)
Established in 2004, SMF Institute of Higher Learning (SMF Institute) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMF), a leading business federation with over 78 years of establishment in Singapore. It is one of the leading educational providers in Singapore & Asia with a range of certificate, diploma and degree programmes provided in collaboration with overseas universities and professional institutions. The academic programmes cover Accounting, Business Management, Commerce, Engineering, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Mass Communication, Psychology, Security Management and Sports Science.
SMF Standards Development Organisation (SMF–SDO)
SMF-SDO is supported by SPRING Singapore and endorsed by the Standards Council to manage the development, promotion and implementation of standards and to participate in relevant international standardisation activities for three Standards Committees as follows:
- Food Standards Committee (FSC)
- General Engineering & Safety Standards (GESSC)
- Biomedical Standards Committee (BMSC)
SMF Singapore Innovation & Productivity Institute (SMF SiPi)
Singapore Innovation & Productivity Institute is a knowledge enterprise that champions manufacturing excellence through innovation & productivity for Singapore’s manufacturing sector. Its key functions include providing productivity resources & customized roadmapping/ coaching support to help enterprises implement their specific productivity roadmaps. SiPi also undertakes research & benchmarking to steer industry development, and collaborates closely with the Singapore government agencies, industry experts, academia & overseas institutes to develop tools, case studies & localize best practices.
SiPi also leverages highly on SMF several centres of excellence to provide a one-stop solution for productivity & innovation.
